SUBJECT: Fall Tour to the Far East
Background
The Far East has become one of the most popular destinations for tourists. In an effort to expand our clients’ options, the company should consider looking into more destinations around the world. The report shows the results of a survey conducted indicating the most popular destination cities in the Far East.
Statement of the problem
To get an idea concerning the possibility of planning a tour to the Far East
Purpose of the study
The purpose of the study was to get an idea of people’s sentiments concerning tours to the Far East. This would indicate the feasibility of planning such a tour. The study revealed some of the preferred destinations, the time that people were willing to take the trip, as well as the costs they were willing to incur during the tour.
Methods
I conducted a survey to determine the preferred destination for our clients. I emailed former clients and asking them where they would desire to go for their fall vacation. I sent mail questionnaires to six hundred clients and three hundred of them responded. The questionnaire included questions when they would prefer to leave for the tour. They had the option of selecting early, mid, or late fall. I asked them the cities they would prefer to visit, giving them the options of Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong, Osaka, Tokyo, Manila, and Bangkok. I gave them the option of choosing more than two cities. I also sought their opinion regarding the price range they considered most acceptable. I included a cover letter, which explained to them the purpose of the survey and requested their participation. I included a pre-addressed stamped envelope, which I hoped would encourage them to reply
Findings
More than half of the people who responded indicated they would prefer a tour during mid fall. Many of respondents indicated that they would prefer visiting more than one city. Popular cities were Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore. Bangkok was the preferred choice for 291 respondents and Osaka was the least preferred with 136 respondents indicating that they would want to go there. Of those who responded, 111 were willing to pay a price range of between $2, 001 and $2, 500. Sixty-three of them were willing to pay more than $2, 500 and less than $3, 000. Forty-one of them said they would pay between $3, 001 and $3, 500. Eighty-five of the respondents said they would only pay $2, 000 dollars or less.
Conclusions
Many people seem interested to tour the Far East, with Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Tokyo being the preferred choices. Most of them are willing to pay more than $2, 000 for the tour. From the results presented, many people would make it to travel in the mid fall.
Recommendations
The company should consider organizing a tour in the mid fall as this would ensure that more people participate. Although Bangkok seems to be the most popular destination, I believe that going to Japan would provide the most satisfaction for out clients. Osaka and Tokyo made it in the list of the most preferred destinations, and they are in the same country. Tokyo happens to be among the most popular cities based on the results. The company can offer our clients the chance to visit both cities at subsidized costs. The company should consider charging between $2, 400 and $2, 700. I believe that many of the clients would be willing to pay extra money for additional services provided.
