Current Affairs Questions
Patriot Act
The Patriot Act is important as it was designed to provide law enforcement agencies with support, appropriate tools and ability to obstruct terror attacks. It was necessary to pass this bill to ensure the safety of American homeland as the law intended to update surveillance laws for the internet age , to strengthen United States measures to detect, prosecute and prevent financing of terrorism and international laundering of funds.
Collapse of the Real Estate Market
Both sides share the blame. However, the federal government and the banks (the lenders and the brokers) played the primary role in the collapse of the real estate market as well as the involved financial institutions. They made people believe that any person could own a home and did not need to make down payments or prove a source of financial income.
Credit Default Swap
The credit default swap (CDS) should be legalized but under strict government regulations to ensure that, the bank loans are not issued to make clients suffer in future incase they are unable to pay the loan. Investment firms are aware that they would make huge profits lest the mortgages are not remunerated because insurance policies will be used to pay them off.
Ghadafi`s Oust
United States and its allies had no right whatsoever to use military force to oust Ghadafi in Libya because the Libyan crisis was an internal matter. People should have the ability to govern themselves without any outside interference and have the ability to make their own laws in response to their needs. Suppose another country uses its military to expel the President Obama, then the act would whirl hard feelings, as that country would have forced democracy instead of seeking it.
US acceptance in Mid East and North Africa
The United States finds itself in a tough spot in the Middle east as well as North Africa since it depends on the those countries to acquire oil. These countries are faced with internal crises, which make it hard for the US to interfere. To maintain peace in those countries, America should negotiate with the leaders to ensure peace by providing them with strong military support to help facilitate serenity.
US involvement in Iraq
Some authors argue that the U.S played a major role in facilitating peace in Iraq and assisted the sequence of political elections. However, others argue that Iraq is at its worse as it is faced by protests each day. People continue to die due to the Muslim drift between the Shiites group and the Sunnis, which they say that the US played a major role creating. Apparently, the US used the Shiites to help bring Saddam Hussein down. U.S remains indebted for Iraq’s war fate, a state that is today faced by high rates of car bombings and rising attacks from Al-Qaeda. Powerful Middle Eastern countries continue to fund the Al-Qaeda group to engage in religious wars.
