My history and childhood are riddled with numerous instances in which I was inclined to become a dentist when I grew up. However, the very forces that pushed me into this career were not related to that sector at all. I was raised in Scott County in Iowa. This region is considered urban, and therefore, the people exhibited poor health and diet standards. This combination of poor access to health plans that include dentistry and the consumption of unwholesome foods created a dental crisis. For many years, I have followed the activities of the Dentists without Borders Association. I have always been impressed with the way in which doctors used their knowledge to help people in need. I planned to have the same impact that professionals in this association had across the globe. In the Toronto Sun magazine, I have also witnessed the critical state of dental problems among Syrian refugees. The article discussed the way in which Syrian immigrants were facing significant dental problems while struggling with health insurance expenses. People in Vietnam also experienced the same dental issues.
CHC Medical Centre (CHC) was one of the institutions that have great significance for my family and me. The real reason for this establishment lies in the fact that their services were exemplary. The hospital had recruited nurses and physicians who were proficient in several languages. Therefore, they offered translation in Spanish and Vietnamese, and this was useful particularly for immigrants. CHC was also the ideal place for me to start my medical journey since it catered for all kinds of people regardless of their economic statuses. The institution was the best as it offered excellent care without discriminating against race and income. This section is important since it outlines my earlier history of medicine and part of the reason I chose to join the dentistry career.
This brings me to the last and most important section of the essay. One of my main objectives is to provide high quality medical and dental care for all patients counting children families, state dependents, veterans, and unregistered immigrants. This career is a very significant one for me. This is because it combines two of my passions. I am very interested in traveling as well as dentistry. Dentists without Borders offer the best opportunity for me to realize my life goals and interests. The association is comprised of several medical professionals who have the passion for treating people with dental disorders and problems. Their activities traverse country borders, national regulations and other restrictions that apply to ordinary doctors. Furthermore, the aspect of being culturally diverse is an impressive quality in Doctors without Borders.
Across the world, many individuals are living in extreme poverty and therefore, cannot access the basic dental services. Most of these people live in Africa, Asia and parts of India. This is an excellent chance for me to gain a great experience in treating dental conditions. However, apart from medical experience, I also have the chance to travel the world, learn new languages and cultures. In conclusion, the opportunity to work with Dentists without Borders will be an honorable and beneficial one that will have a great impact on my professional and personal growth. I believe that with this information concerning my motivation to join the Dentists without Borders that you will consider me as a viable candidate.
