Re: Implications of the Affordable Health Care Act
The Obamacare Act has observed an
estimated 30 million American workers applications for the health care service through
the Affordable Care Act. This estimate will require an increased number of
health professional who are going to provide medical attention to these people.
The implications observed by this health care provider is that it will fail to
fulfill its promises as there will be escalating shortage of healthcare
personnel and increased pressure on the already weakened system (Anderson, 2014,
p. 4). The training of more healthcare providers will take a long duration,
which cannot be compensated for by the demand of these services. Another
implication that stems from this act is that it will take a considerably long
time to be implemented thus its realized
can only be seen in a figurative aspect as its not factual (Cutler, 2003, p. 23).
There is also the negative downside of the act that is seen to derail the growth
and development of the economy by the mandate that forces the employer to cater
to the insurance package that increases the rates charged on Medicare and the taxes
imposed on the companies that manufacture medical devices. This has been the
main reason of concern to most economists. I recommend that measures be taken concerning
the type of healthcare that should be offered to the part time workers. According
to a recent study conducted there has been an observed increase in the number
of permanent workers and a decrease in part time workers due to the Obamacare (Gongloff,
2014, p. 35). There have been cases where workers are cutting hours thus
becoming part time workers after Obama care decreed that business should give
their full time employees the health coverage (Graham, 2014, p. 13). I would
recommend a different health insurance cover for the part time workers as it could
be temporarily paid by the company owing to the fact that the employment is on
a short-term contract. This health insurance can either be affordable like
Medicaid with the premium chosen providing benefits that are similar to those
of Obama care to avoid portraying a biased view.
