Leadership Style Reflection
Leaders can be born while others develop the abilities and skills to become prominent heads. There are clear characteristics that distinguish leaders from the rest of the people. These characteristics either are developed or are naturally part of their personality. A good leader should be committed to excellence. He/she should always have his/her personal goals aligned with the priorities or ambitions of an organization, and is highly committed to and energized by his or her work thus giving a firm the best ideas and performance. In enhancing organizational success, a leader should always think up independently and champion new ideas that will significantly contribute to organizational goals.
A good leader portrays excellent persuasion qualities. He/she should describe and be able to show others what an organization is capable of accomplishing. An excellent leader often talks to others about a vision of how much better an organization could be in the future. A good leader possesses great personality traits. According to the results from the metrics, a leader honestly and actively owns up to their strengths and weaknesses rather than putting off evaluation. He/she acts on personal ethical standards, treats others with dignity and respect. He/she is also enthusiastic and gives others a great deal of choice and freedom in deciding how to do their tasks. The metric reflects leaders as people who always share visions and action, keep all team members engaged in their work and sometimes motivate workers by taking time to celebrate the success of the organization.
The metric also reflects on the characteristic of learners. An apprentice should sometimes look ahead and communicate about what they think will affect them in future. Moreover, he/she should sometimes set an example of what they expect from other people. They should also think critically in order to evaluate class work from their own perspectives and often take the initiative to successfully complete assignments that go beyond their abilities. Students should always build a record of success when starting a new assignment, as well as work occasionally on difficult ones without the benefit of much supervision. They should do this bearing in mind that they would meet deadlines with the highest efforts. Learners should also have personality traits, which guide them in their road to making educational achievements. They include self-awareness, self-respect and respect for others, integrity and passion in whatever they do.
Followers, on the other hand, should at all times follow through the commitments and promises that they make in an organization and be enthusiastic in motivating their co-workers. Workers should always be competent, especially in critical activities, in order to become valuable to the organization and to the leader. The metric results also show that followers sometime seek to solve tough problems rather than depending on the leader to do so, and should personally identify the organizational activities, which are more crucial in achieving success. Employees should sometimes seek feedback on how their behavior affects other people in the organization. Most importantly, workers should always help their leader to identify both the potential and risks of ideas or plans and play the “devil’s advocate” if required.
The results of the metrics produced a factual reflection on the characteristics of leaders, students, followers and their personalities. It also gives the information on how the above-mentioned people engage in behaviors and actions that affect them or affect an organization. No matter what one’s occupation is, the way they interact with people is necessary for change and success. This information emphasizes on the setting of standards in areas of communication, mission and vision, respect and dignity in organization to ensure growth and profitability. Self-understanding is important especially when one enters in a situation with other people. Each person possesses unique abilities, personality traits and interests. The metrics also provide a clear understanding of how individuals might interact with people by knowing what they are capable of, and what inspires their personal growth.
