Owing to the findings in the research conducted by the Labor Department through the Rand Corp, it is evident that a smaller, more diverse, more mobile and more vulnerable workforce will be more vulnerable to the global competition. The trends discovered will have impact on organizational strategies.
The first negative implication the trend will have is that there will be continued outsourcing by the global community as regards to highly skilled workers in the technical industries such the manufacturing sector (Strope, 2004). This means that the USA will experience a drop in the workforce. Thus, the organizational strategies will need to be more evolved as per situation at hand. The employers need to evaluate the current situation and create a completely new set of strategies that will not cost the company workforce loss due of outsourcing.
In order one to
make an external analysis, there are several issues that should be elaborated.
First, the current situation of outsourcing is because of the wearing out of
the trade barriers due to cheap and easily available communication thus
infringing on the areas that were considered free of global competition (Associated
Press, 2004). This means more workers in America are recruited by foreign
organizations offering better employment and financial opportunities. For the
American economy and the work force, it means loss in terms of productivity,
unemployment and loss of remunerations for some employees. In order to
counteract outsourcing there will have to be readjustment of the work policies,
increase the salaries and bonuses offered and readjusting the work schedules in
order retain the remaining high skilled workers and the unemployed ones
(Associated Press, 2004). The role played by US should be that of a nation
willing to improve the working conditions of its workers in order to retain
them. The next step is to implement the adjustments and wait for nature to do
its bidding. The external approach elaborates on the details of the study
clearly selecting points that are necessary to the topic. This is type of
analysis is effective and straight to the point.
