Personal Reflection
Being selected to represent the young people of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of the Emirates Global Youth Council (EGYC) in the United States is a significant learning experience as far as the process of leadership is concerned. The exposure that I will receive as part of the Council’s member in the U. S. will allow me to implement the approaches that I have learned so far from leadership studies. I find it interesting that the mandate of the members of the EGYC in respect to the American context involves nurturing the engagement and participation of Emirati youth in the provision of service to local and international communities. Based on the respective objective, I would assert that I am equipped for the responsibilities that are required of the Council due to the ability that I possess regarding integrating and connect my learning outside the classroom.
I am aware of the impact that theories on leadership tend to impose on a person’s capacity. However, the true indicator of a person’s coherence of a subject is based on the ability to apply the things learned pragmatically. As part of a diverse team with a grand objective, I am aware of the role that teamwork assumes based on the projects that I have worked on in class. In this respect, I will be able to work closely with my teammates as part of the EGYC and focus specifically on accomplishing the expected goals. Additionally, I will emphasize on the significance of collaboration and cooperation in the development of knowledge considerable enough to develop practical approaches that will assure the gratification of future goals in respect to the Council.
