Reflection #3
To be a successful school leader you have to have a vision. However, in order for a school to move forward all of the teachers have to buy into the” vision”. How would you accomplish this in your school?
In order to accomplish the communicated vision to the teachers, I have to make them understand the purpose of the vision. Buying into the vision will require sharing of the objectives, beliefs, and processes to be undertaken. I will first introduce my vision to the staff members, prior to enabling it in the school’s system. Once they hear about it, I will take time in ensuring that I have explained all the details regarding the vision, its purpose within the school and the stakeholders as well as the procedure that I plan to undertake in ensuring that it becomes a reality. At that juncture, I would then request for each member’s input, critique, analysis, commentary, or suggestion towards the planned vision and enable an honest environment of achieving that. All the above responses from the teachers would then make basis for ensuring the vision is chartered for the whole process.
In order for my vision as the school’s head to be deliberated and accepted, I would institute engagement with the teachers on personalized levels for easier understanding as well as minimizing objections or contrary detachments. I would motivate the teachers to see the outcome on basis of the planned vision by having the overall benefits to all stakeholders associated with as means of encouraging their support. In addition, I would delegate their assistance in coming up with the particular goals and objectives to set while utilizing their input in procedures towards the vision. I would ensure they understand their importance towards the vision, especially with consequences of not achieving it in their minds. Finally, I would ensure that I communicate on their active role in ensuring the success of the vision and translated positive outcome through their understanding.
