Reflection Essay
I enjoyed writing my first essay because I found it interesting. The strong thing about my essay is that I understood the topic, and this made it relatively easy for me to write. I was able to point out the areas where the author used analogies, and this made it more compelling to write the essay. I was able to identify the main areas of importance. I was able to capture the required elements in a rhetorical analysis. This included identifying the necessary statistics and showing the logic that the author had used when writing his essay. The point that might not have been so strong about my essay is identifying the emotional appeal that the author had used. The author addressed an economic issue, and I was not able to find any emotional appeal easily. I would give myself a high grade in the essay because I believe I was able to answer the questions as required. In addition, my paper was grammatical and easy to read. I was able to avoid any spelling and grammatical mistakes.
One question that I would have about my essay is: How can a person identify an author’s attempt to appeal to his or her audience emotionally when writing about serious topics such as economics and finance? Another question is: How do I separate my own thoughts, feelings, and perceptions about the essay, from those of the author? I think that if I were to do the same form of writing again, I would take more time to read and understand the assigned article, before attempting to answer any questions. I had to go through the assigned report several times so that I could answer the questions, and I wasted a lot of time doing this. This would not have happened if I took the time to read the article more deeply.
