Reflection Paper
One of the strong points when writing the essay is that I was able to answer the question asked, by pointing out the relevant factors. I was able to identify people’s economic status as the reason why they choose to immigrate and improved standards of living as the reason why they choose to stay in the country, even if they will do so as illegal immigrants. I was able to highlight the different consequences of immigration including the fact that it has a negative impact on the environment because it contributes to overpopulation. I was able to show how the government is not able to respond to, and control the increasing population.
I think that I might have a weakness trying to connect and tie in different issues. This is because of the different issues presented. Because of this, some of the points made in the essay seem to stand in isolation. For instance, I combined the issue of illegal immigration, the environment, and population growth, although I was not able to show how the different factors connect. Given another chance, I would make sure that I focused more on the topic in question. I might have taken a long time dealing with environmental issues, even though it was not the focus of the paper. I also covered illegal immigration in a thorough manner, although it was only a subtopic. Even though these were not major topics, they helped me dig deeper in the topic of immigration.
Although I would not give myself the highest grade available, I would still grade myself highly. This is because I was able to answer the relevant questions. In addition, my grammar and sentence structure were okay, and I wrote in a way that is easy to understand. Perhaps the thing that would make me lower my grade is the fact that some of the ideas in my essay do not seem to flow well.
