Religious Aspects: Pensacola Christian College & Haredi College
Most variants present in religious fundamentalism tend to possess comparable traits. In this respect, Pensacola Christian College and Haredi College have a series of similar qualities in relation to their stance on observing a rigid and ‘pure’ form of religious instruction. Foremost, both institutions see and revere the sacred scriptures as the literal and authentic wordings of God. This is illustrated by the form of dedication that both colleges inculcate in relation to the scriptures they follow. For instance, Haredi College places emphasis on the Torah for followers of Haredi fundamentalism (Haredi College). For them, the Torah is the sole word of God since it possesses the laws and commandments that God passed down from the father of the Jews, Abraham. Alternately, Pensacola Christian College accentuates the Holy Bible as the scripture of God (Pensacola Christian College). The respective emphasis regarding the Scripture is a common point for both Pensacola Christian College and Haredi College. On the other hand, each college possesses disparities regardless of their fundamentalism. On one hand, the religious aspects of Haredi College place emphasis on the Torah. Unlike the dimensions propagated by the Pensacola Christian College, Haredi College express discontent with ‘modern’ Christians and as such, remain ‘true’ to the teachings of the Torah and as such, embraces a ‘Yeshiva’ form of fundamentalism in the educational services it provides to the students (Haredi College). On the other hand, religious aspects held by Pensacola Christian College emphasize on the Bible as the authentic form of God’s word. This enables the use of theoretical knowledge in relation to the application of it on a practical level (Pensacola Christian College). Aside to this, pastors and chapels comprise an imperative religious aspect of Pensacola Christian College; an element that strict fundamentalists would assert as “churchianity’.
