Resignation of Klaus Ze German as CEO of Nokia Inc.
Nokia Inc. is announcing the resignation of Klaus Ze German as its Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Ze German has been the CEO of Nokia and a member of the board for the last seven years and his resignation came as a shock as he cited personal reasons. Following his resignation, the board has appointed Mr. Harry King as the acting CEO until it finds a suitable replacement for the position.
Klaus Ze German first joined Nokia as the Head of Research and Development in 2002. Under his leadership, the department was able to design new software and hardware that was instrumental to Nokia’s success in the first decade of the 21st century. After spending four years with the department, the board appointed him acting CEO in 2006 before allowing him to take the position on a permanent basis in 2007. Using his managerial prowess and shrewd understanding of the telecommunications market, Dr. Ze German helped Nokia maintain a dominant presence in the industry for the past seven years with Steve Jobs describing him as “one of the best executives of his generation”.
Dr. Ze German’s time with Nokia was highly appreciated and the board of directors would like to thank him for the work that he did for Nokia Inc. In addition, Nokia Inc. wishes Dr. Ze German all the best in the rest of his endeavors.
