The theories of Abraham and Erikson support several growth and social aspects of a human being’s daily life. In one instance, Erickson identifies eight stages of life, which shows the continued development and growth in man from one stage to another explaining how each stage is interdependent on the other. The Eight stages therefore include infancy, early childhood late childhood, school age, adolescence, young adulthood, adulthood and maturity.
On the other hand, Abraham Maslow creates a hierarchy based on his understanding of the human needs. There is the self-actualization, which is the top most need and involves the ability to utilize personal potential. The self-esteem needs are next including matters of self-respect and societal acceptance. Thirdly, an individual feels the need to have personal belonging and love from those round them. This is followed by the need for security and safety in both relationships and the physical environment. Lastly, the psychological needs, which refer to all the things necessary for survival such as air, water, and food, are also crucial in this group.
Currently, in relation to my life, the characteristics identified by both theorists are indeed provable. For instance, according to Erickson’s theory, I have passed through a number of the eight stages already and I am currently a young adult. This is because I am able to make decisions for myself and to take care of most of the things that pertain to it. In addition, the hierarchy illustrated by Maslow is also accurate because he has listed the many issues that matter the moat. The level of importance might differ but the components are accurate nonetheless.
Lastly, I intend to get a job as early as the age of twenty-five, so that I may have enough time to prepare for my marriage by the age of twenty-nine. Once I have a stable family and career, I will plan for two children who I will take care of until they are all grown up and in college. After that, I will retire at fifty to pursue my passion of owning a farm and a few farm animals. The factors that may affect this timeline may be my gender, my family’s culture, and perhaps the pressure of the society either to hasten or to slow down the process. Am currently at school pursuing my degree course but I believe in a few years, I will be out looking for my first employment.
