Starbucks has different career positions, which include baristas, store managers, and shift supervisors. Baristas need the knowledge to make the perfect coffee for the customers. Inventing coffee blending machines can replace the work of baristas. The machines can be programmed to determine the ingredients to use at the right quantities and temperatures (Mims, 2013). Store managers are in charge of stores. They need business knowledge and people management skills to do their job well. They interact with the customers, employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Shift supervisors work directly with the employees. They need good managerial and people relationship skills. . It is not possible to replace store managers and shift supervisors with information systems as they cannot be able to interact with people.
Some of the jobs at burger king include delivery drivers, shift coordinators, and . information systems cannot replace delivery drivers, since the job involves the transportation of foods and beverages to the consumers. Shift coordinators and assistance managers have to deal with people (Burger King). They ensure that the employees perform their work efficiently and that the stores run smoothly. They cannot be replaced by information systems. People management requires one to relate with other people and information systems are not able to do this.
Cashiers at Wal-Mart stores serve customers by billing their goods. They can be replaced by information systems. Some Wal-Mart stores have installed automated self-checkout kiosks, which has reduced the need for cashiers (Thibodeau, 2013). Other positions in the retail company include working in the legal department as administrative assistants and attorneys (Wal-Mart, 2013). Such positions cannot be replaced by information systems
