The Application of MLA to Solve Project Challenges
It is a surprise that despite being centuries old, beauty pageants have maintained their position of esteem in society. However, establishing and executing one is no simple feat. For instance, cultural diversity is one of the primary challenges faced while setting up the enrichment program. The pageant is supposed to cater to people from all walks of life, regardless of sexual, ethnic or gender identity. The second challenge is the lack of sufficient funding. Marginal donations have been given for the completion of the in-person workshops. The degree of financing implies that USA Multicultural has not engaged in sufficient networking to motivate attendance or endowment.
MLA provides management with a guideline for finding solutions that consider a wide range of situational factors. Adopting the MLA principles on power issues and management’s role in society are bound to solve the stated issues. Peter Drucker’s Management Theory, which assesses power issues, emphasizes the concept of collaboration (Turriago-Hoyos et al. 2016). The philosopher identified consultation as a competitive factor in management. To solve the issue of cultural diversity, USA Multicultural should hire or consult an external expert. Collaboration with local figures, including celebrities and community leaders, would have helped solve the funding problem by raising awareness about the pageant.
I am a strong believer that functional relationships exist between society, culture and business organizations. Integrity and cooperation must be present for the good health of these functional relationships. The MLA principle on issues of power is consistent with this belief. The principle of management’s role in society emphasizes respect for personal freedoms, the right to human dignity and the right to equal opportunity. Such checked power that guarantees individual liberty is critical in managing a successful beauty pageant in today’s diverse society.
