. Usually, most persons venture into careers that do not satisfy their inner needs irrespective of monetary gain. The high level of dissatisfaction among such employees necessitates the need to consider other options. One of the most difficult choices individuals face in their lifetimes involves making the right career choice threatens the careers of numerous employees. A considerable amount of these threats focuses on the level of education that one attained prior to his or her initial employment. This coerces employees to consider returning to universities and colleges in order to increase their academic credentials. This example presents the issue most people face in accommodating to varying situations. Accordingly, the dilemma between choosing to stick within a career and changing the respective career presents a significant problem for most individuals.
The best alternative that one may consider involves a change in career. This is because the environment undergoes significant changes that disrupt normal ways of businesses. One of the main forces of change bringing this change involves global economic situation. International global economic situations force organizations to make changes that may increase or reduce productivity. For instance, the 2009 Global Economic Crisis saw multinational corporations reduce the quantity of labor in order to decrease their level of expenditure. Additionally, several businesses in countries such as the United States collapsed based on the increasing debt and predisposition towards bankruptcy. Such erratic changes in the global economy require individuals to plan ahead in order to avoid the problems involved in the dynamism of the business environment (Ritvo, Litwin & Butler, 2009).
The increasing need for skills and aptitudes in organizations also necessitates the need to change a career. For every human being, the need to progress is basic. At one point, a person in his current state feels an intrinsic need to gain more from his situation. Therefore, in order to satisfy such a need, individuals need to plan for the development of skills. For instance, a person seeking to Chief Financial Officer in an organization needs to possess a variety of skills and aptitudes concerning leadership. Furthermore, an individual needs to evaluate his current position. Evaluating the current position will allow the person to focus on his current strengths and weaknesses (London, 2010). A focus on strengths and weaknesses will motivate the individual to consider improving the weak areas in order to experience progression in his or her career.
Furthermore, considering a change in career is important since it allows one to plan. As mentioned, the varying situation of the modern business environment disrupts normal business operations. Such dynamic circumstances require an individual to focus on having plans that will safeguard them from issues such as retrenchment, collapse or redundancy in organizations. Therefore, considering a career change will allow an individual to introduce schemes that will allow him or her to be on the safe side. These schemes will provide the individual with an opportunity to gain a career in case of a negative situation. By considering a career change, the individual will be in control of his or her future. Additionally, the individual will also have the resources to formulate and secure his future career plans due to their current availability.
In conclusion, considering a career change allows one to plan for an unprecedented future. The business environment presents numerous varying situations. Such situations possess negative impacts on organizations especially in the financial side. This establishes the main incentive for companies to consider strategies such as retrenchment of employees as viable to their longevity. Nevertheless, considering a career change will assist an individual in the management of his or her future.
