The post compares the terms ascetic and asthenic, which I had no prior knowledge about. Ascites refers to the medical outcome of cirrhosis, where fluid build-up in the patient’s abdomen. The fluid increases the pressure put on the stomach, kidneys, bowels and liver. On the other hand, asthenic, also known as asthenia, refers to a general lack of physical strength. The term can be used to theoretically refer to a weak personality type. People with weak personalities tend to lack energy or initiative to be responsible for the major decisions of their lives. The term can be used in the field to motivate patients into self-discipline. Unfortunately, asthenic it is more associated with the morphological body form, which is a frail body build. The post contributed to my further learning of personality disorders.
