Westlife Music band
Formation
Westlife a band that was formed by four Irish boys in 1998 was one of the most revolutionary bands in the music industry (Larkin 3875). The band disbanded in 2012 with the remaining members being Mark Feehily, Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Nick Byrne. Simon Cowell signed the band under the management of Louis Walsh enabling them to sell over 50 million records. As much as Cowell was against the idea of signing the band arguing on their repulsive nature, auditions won them a place in the record label.
Impact
Westlife as a band has supported the local and international society by engaging in a number of charitable events such as the Helping for Haiti aimed at comic relief. They have also created an impact in major campaigns as well as issuing undying support for blood transfusion through the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. Most pop artists look up to Westlife and their style of music delivery, which did not involve any experimentation. It was grounded on the old-school musical rules and guidelines.
Uniqueness
Westlife being a popular band was considered unique since it offers its listeners and the public to participate in their interactive music videos such as The Rose, which was their twentieth album. Westlife had their unique sound and concentrated more on what the public and fans liked. As much as the style of music did not change, the fans were pleased.
Music
The first
recording that Westlife made known as “Swear it Again” was released in 1999.
This single was a success. Following this recording, the two other singles that
were a hit that year were “Let you Go” and “Flying without Wings.” “Against all
Odds” was one of the major duets that elevated their careers in the industry.
This was done with Mariah Carey a pioneer in music. After this, the band saw
great success in the 14 songs they released with 26 singles topping the charts
and 49 million records hitting the airwaves. However, musical response in the
United States was rather slow with only “Swear It Again” in 2000 gaining recognition.
